Didn't he also take an oath before he took office: to uphold the US Constitution? Back in March of this year he took another oath: to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth prior to testifying before an open hearing of a US Senate committee. At that hearing "Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) asked Clapper, 'Does the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans?' Clapper replied, 'No sir … not wittingly.'

In the light of the events of the past week, it is now clear that by giving that particular response Clapper committed perjury, and that Snator Wyden knows that he did.

See:

http://www.slate.com/articl...

for the rest of the story.

The point is if Edward Snowden is to be pursued, arrested, and prosecuted for breaking HIS oath, why should not the same also be meted out to James Clapper for breaking his?

Re: WSJ Goes Nuts Over…Bicycles?

"The bike lobby is an all-powerful entity." Even his lawyer was paid to be enthusiastic. But in faraway Maryland, Milt Shook alone had the courage to defend Talley's record, insist his guilty plea meant nothing, and delete any blog comment that used Talley's name. Courageous! Crap-cutting! I'm glad it was him.

Re: Bill Talley Sentenced. (Such as the prosecutor's long list of things found
in his possession like 3 year olds being raped?). Is that in fact the
latest bizarre argument from Mr. "I-Only-Tell-The-Truth" Shook? That if there was never an actual trial, then the exhibits that would be used at that trial—and which led to the plea deal meant to avert that trial—should now be summarily discounted and ignored as irrelevant? It seems so, but I'd have to endure his ridiculous stream to confirm it. And that's just not
something decent folks should ever have to do.

I guess I will just have to assume that when a serial killer takes a plea
deal, all those dead bodies are now free to take a week off and go to
Disney World?

Only the great Milt Shook would try to cure one humiliating mistake with an even bigger mistake,doubling-down on his absurd defense of a convicted—and now incarcerated—pedophile. But then, this is the same Milt Shook whose whacky bombastic judgments allowed him to predict, in writing, and with a "mark my words" certainly worthy of Alex Jones, that the Boston marathon bombers would turn out to be right wing American extremists. Yep, Uncle Miltie really nailed that one, right?

Let's just be happy for any future children who might now be spared the vile obsessions of a sick pedophile because a 3rd strong blogger named Milt Shook was not the judge in this miserable case.

Re: Bill Talley Sentenced. And to say there's no evidence ignores the fact that there has been evidence presented to the appeals court from Talley and from law enforcement, and Talley's arguments were rejected. Those rulings weren't made on vapor. They heard BOTH SIDES and ruled. I might add that Talley never denied possessing the images. He objected to how the police came to find them, but never denied they were there.

Re: Bill Talley Sentenced. Just yesterday I tweeted about his new budgetary bait: selling TVA is a bad idea. But because I disagree with respect and enough detachment to recognize his Niebuhrian realism for what it is, I'm not radical enough for many. The problem is exacerbated by social media, where reactivity is often rewarded but sobriety rarely is. And the enemies of the progressive agenda understand this all too well.

I'm reading Fang's book right now, and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Re: @karoli (Divide and Conquer: A Cautionary Tale)

So?
