Folic Acid Awareness Week? Seriously?

Do we really need a Folic Acid Awareness Week (officially designated thus by the CDC )? Please. Is there a ribbon to wear for Folic Acid Awareness Week or coupons discounting folic acid supplements?     Today the 9th is Balloon Ascension Day in the United States! Woo hoo! Most important to mark upon your calendars is: National Anthem Day.
    Here is a list for this month LOL :) I am sure some still are missing:

    March of Dimes Birth Defects Prevention Month
    National Glaucoma Awareness Month
    Eye Care Month
    Hobby Month
    Hot Tea Month
    Human Resource Month
    Prune Breakfast Month
    Soup Month
    Thyroid Disease Awareness Month
    Volunteer Blood Donor Month
    Tuberous Sclerosis Awareness Month
    Adopt a Rescued Bird Month
    Cervical Health Month

    My personal favorites are Soup, Oatmeal, and Prune Breakfast! One must remember that all prunes are plums but not all plums are prunes :)

    Like most things follow the money. Unfortunately I agree that the real or worth causes are lost in the awareness days. Sort of like the terror level warning list.

    Noteworthy: brain awareness week comes after my birthday. Perhaps, there is something to this?

    Hmmmm, about your birthday -- there's NO awareness week in the month of mine. What should I make of that? :)

    I TOTALLY DISAGREE, THERE IS MUCH NEED FOR THE AWARENESS FOR FOLIC ACID, TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THE RESULT OF THE LACK OF FOLIC ACID IN A WOMANS BODY AND THE RESULT OF THE CHILD, MY NEPHEW WAS A ANENCEPHALY BABY AND IT WAS SEVERE AND THE AWARENESS TO PREVENT THIS HORRIFIC OUTCOME NEEDS TO BE OUT THERE.
