This is timeless practicality.  To start, I would recommend a blazer.  If you can afford two, get one each of corduroy (can be business and casual) and wool (business and semi-dressy).  Black slacks and a black straight skirt.  A couple nice finished t-shirts or plain shirt.  Flats or low-heeled pumps.  As for the colors, whatever looks good.  This probably wasn't what you were looking for, but you'll look good and people think you know what you're doing (which you probably do, anyway).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I wear this stuff everyday.  Except, not so much the skirt part anymore.  I have two of &lt;a href="http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/womens/blazersjackets/casual/PRD~241468/Sonoma+life+style+Variegated+Corduroy+Blazer.jsp" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/womens/blazersjackets/casual/PRD~241468/Sonoma+life+style+Variegated+Corduroy+Blazer.jsp"&gt;these&lt;/a&gt;.  It may not look like it came from Saks, but it's super comfortable, looks decent, and you can't go wrong with that price.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;On the other hand... The last time I was in Atlanta, the shoeshine girl just off the lobby of the some downtown hotel (can't remember the name), wore a little black cocktail dress at eight in the morning.
