Awesome! That is exactly what is going to get us through tough times. We are all in this together, the time for greed is past. For those of us who haven't felt it yet, we have to let go of the "stockpiling" for the future mentality in order to help our neighbors who are just trying to make it to tomorrow.

Sara, that specific passage was roaring through my head on Friday night, and still does. Seeing so many hurt by the paradigm of whipping those who haven't got anything in the name of newly-discovered fiscal responsibility is overwhelming.

you've written about the beauty of friendship..of grace..of love..the naturalness of it all...the unquestionable rightness of the act, the selflessness, perhaps just a beginning. thank you for the sharing of this story..and the invite for all of us to do the same..i've given so much at times i turn around and need what i gave away but i wouldn't change a thing...and others have been there for me when i need to lean. eager to follow the comments. thank you new friend :)

I am so glad that was your response. I think we will see a lot more people acting this way. I am not religious (but have been marinated in my families Cathololic culture) My brain reflexsively says to myself - "There but for the grace of God, go I" ...Or as I like to say - Random chance favors me today! Again!

I built a site called hyperlocavore.com to encourage people to grow food with their neighbors, friends and family. I think it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better, and want people to have tools to build real community and support in their neighborhoods.

I love what you did! In these challenging times, we need to band together. Everyone needs to do their part to help one another. This recession is pretty bad but people like you and your husband can really make it less challenging.
