Who do you blog for?

Started by Karoli · 7 months ago

Update: 4/15/06 Liz (I Speak of Dreams) did a terrific roundup of this conversation! Don’t miss it.
I’ve been considering Molly’s thought-provoking question for the weekend. Who do I blog for? Me. But it wasn’t always that way.%0 ... Continue reading »

  • Head eclectician. I like that. Maybe we should lobby Blogher for an "eclectic" category.

I love the new design, did I say that already?
  • Great post - and an opportunity to let you know how much I enjoy your daily photos!

I definitely blog for me -- (hence this week's boring rants about preparing for Passover) but am always pleased when something that is on my mind strikes a chord with my four readers. There are topics that I know will get more traffic (i.e., celebrity sightings and Hollywood anecdotes) and I do write about those when they come up -- but I don't think I do it in a manner that is inorganic with my theme, which is being a mom and part of a family in Southern California.
  • I started blogging to figure it out for a friend. Now I just blog cause. Cause why not? I have no particular goals for my blog. Hence the name. It is addictive isn't it? Since one of my stokes after effects (affects?) is problems getting my thoughts together and organized, blogging has really helped me. Sometimes it takes hours to get a thought written out with some type of structure but the effort is well worth it to me. So I guess blogging has become a type of mental therapy. Typing is getting easier now also. Hee, hee, I blog to rehabilitate.

There are only a few blogs that I read daily. I think reading the different tangents taken are most interesting.

I always enjoy checking to see what new photos you have published. Keep - keeping on. Maybe someday I will brave the K2 theme
  • Hi: I don't recall seeing a category change request, and now that you mention it I don't recall seeing edit requests from ANYONE in the last 6 weeks. I think I'll check whether that notification module is even working!

Anyway, I changed you to Personal.

We were considering changing the "Personal" category to "Life" or something else that reflects something more diverse and eclectic than just personal ...which I agree does sound mostly like journaling. We're open to suggestion.
  • Wow, terrific comments, and thanks to Liz for the great roundup of this discussion in the larger "blogosphere" -- I posted a link to it as an update to this post.

Thanks Elisa for the category switch, too. I think 'Personal' probably describes me better.

I'm really glad to know that you all like the photos, because I definitely plan to continue them. I'm trying to figure out how to eke out a new FAST zoom lens so that I can climb right into those herons' nests!

    DnW
